Small and micro businesses, sole traders, charities, and smaller community groups often struggle to understand how data protection law applies to the work they do, or how to assess their compliance for the routine handling of personal data.

This workshop is ideal for sole traders, entrepreneurs, small and micro business owners, or anyone working within a business or function that wishes to know how to assess their compliance on personal data handling and processing.

This short workshop will cover:

  • A brief overview of data protection law and the obligations placed on any business that process people’s personal data;
  • The importance of understanding what personal data your business processes;
  • A series of exercises to consider what types of personal data your business or department processes, where it comes from, and who you share it with;
  • What your need and purpose is for the data, so that you can apply the appropriate lawful justifications;
  • How to categorise your data, and how to consider potential risks involved or the need for carrying out impact assessments.

  • Kim Bradford is an accredited HR and GDPR practitioner. She provides HR and data protection consultancy and training – experienced in translating complex legislation into practical operational context for micro businesses and SMEs.
