There are lots of rules about how organisations must manage the data that they use: from CCTV footage to marketing data, social media use to COVID-19 data, and everything in between. These rules can be confusing and they are often misunderstood.
It doesn’t matter how big or small your organisation is, you need to think about data protection. Getting things wrong can cost a lot of money and damage an organisation’s reputation. It is vital for start-ups and small-to-medium-sized enterprises to understand how they must comply with the rules – even a small fine or loss of business can be crippling. But putting measures in place at an early stage brings dividends in the long run. This workshop will help you understand how to do that and so will include:
- a brief overview of the relevant rules (e.g. GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018);
- practical advice on how to best comply with those rules as well as best practice; and
- the specific challenges and opportunities faced by start-ups and SMEs and how to manage and take advantage of them. e.g. compliance on a budget, low staff numbers, Brexit, and COVID-19.
Tom Wilson-Brown founded Aspyrian Ltd based on his years of experience as a data protection subject matter expert.
