The Get Enterprising (GE) Programme
STANTA runs the Get Enterprising programme funded by Hertfordshire Futures (formerly Hertfordshire LEP).
This gives local businesses up to 12 hours of free business advice and training, which can be used in a variety of ways over a period of time.
Eligibility to join GE:
- Live or work in postcodes AL1-AL5, comprising St. Albans, Harpenden and surrounding villages.
- Business age is under 5 years
- Business can be pre-startup, registered with HMRC/Companies House or not yet registered.
The 12 hours might consist of:
- Two one-hour business advice meetings with an experienced business adviser
- Assistance with registering the business with HMRC and Companies House
- Attending Business Planning workshops, topics covered include:

- Understand the process of creating a business plan
- Understand key strategy issues
- Develop a marketing plan
- Understand key financial data, cashflow, profit and loss.
- Attending other training workshops of your choice.
- Get support with a legal query for your business; such as contracts, intellectual property.
- Have a follow-up business advice at a later date.
At a business advice meeting, you will receive personalised advice and relevant reference material, and a follow-up email with action points. Business advice may include everything from practical, legal and financial information through to business strategy. Established businesses (over 5 years old):
We are also able to assist more established businesses. You can book your staff onto a our workshops at £50 per head. Our advisers are also able to provide business advice on a one-to-one basis, either on site at STANTA or at client premises. Fees vary depending upon requirements; please contact us to discuss your needs.

The workshops are led by respected and skilled practitioners who deliver a series of practical workshops to help business owners and employees enhance their skill sets.
